Caught Steve's show in Tucson last night, excellent as always. He started right out with 3 or 4 of my favorite songs, took the pressure off and he delivered all night.
Solo of Galway Girl on mandolin was a revelation, renditions of his newer stuff, Way down in the Hole, , City of Immigrants, excellent, of course. Got converted to the song about the most photographed, written about rdtail hawk in the history of the world. Lay My Hammer down provided the political fix, loved his raps on the death penalty, wart in Iraq, etc. Wondered if some of the younger fans were pulled in by the Washington Square material, they were right in that groove.
Want to say thanks to Kendall for hooking me up with the management folks, the table we were allowed to set up for our local Death Penalty Abolition group went off without a hitch. The theater was great, even provided a table, could not have been nicer. We handed out materials, got quite a few folks to enter data on the signup sheet.
Thank-you guys, thank-you Steve.
Get out an support this artist, he has been doing it for a long time now. Joan Baez recorded his song, how cool is that.
